Release show for Elise Boeur & Adam Iredale-Gray’s new album Fiddle Tunes! Concert followed by an all-ages, family friendly ceilidh dance - no experience necessary.

Members of JUNO nominated, Canadian Folk Music Award winning neo-folk quintet Aerialists, Elise Boeur & Adam Iredale-Gray explore fiddle music in fluid, easy lockstep. Their new album Fiddle Tunes is exactly what the title promises; a celebration of the experience of sharing fiddle traditions the way they’ve been shared for centuries, the tune recreating itself anew with each repetition as folks sit knee to knee and play.

We are also creating videos of some of the live performances, and presenting original videos created for the festival by WSÁNEĆ artists - find them on the videos page.

CBMF Presents: Sam Tudor Band with Georgia Lee Johnson
Friday January 10th 2020, Mayne Island Agricultural Hall
Doors at 7pm, show at 7:30. $20 in advance at the Farm Gate Store, $25 at the door

Sam Tudor grew up at a forest research station, developing an affinity for both plants and outdated technology in the process. The Georgia Straight called his debut album Quotidian Dream “a gem... with a penchant for everything left field” while Beatroute magazine describes it as “beautifully self aware, sonically interesting, and masterful.” The band’s live show is poignant and communal, veering between gentleness and bombastic intensity. They are a pop band with experimental leanings that they proudly wear on their sleeves.

Georgia Lee Johnson draws on her training in experimental performance to use song as a format for story-telling, mixing vivid imagery with lush harmonics. She draws from the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest for her inspiration and imagery. Georgia will perform an opening set for this evening.
